Insert speech marks in the following sentences.

  1. Who’s been sleeping in my bed said baby bear.
  2. Nibble, nibble at my house said the witch.
  3. Jack shouted,quick mother bring the axe.
  4. What big teeth you have grandma,said little red riding hood.
  5. Not by my hair on my chiny chin chin said the pig.

Degrees of comparison

  1. Bright - Brighter - Brightest.
  2. Clean - Cleaner - Cleanest.
  3. Poor - Poorer - Poorest.
  4. Young - Younger  - Youngest.
  5. Weak - Weaker - Weakest.
  6. Loud - Louder - Loudest.

    Thanks for sharing what you have learnt. Speech marks are important because they make our writing sound real or authentic. You have correctly inserted the speech marks. Use brighter colours when inserting your speech mark so it can be easily seen. Sometimes I have found learners overdoing it with direct speech. Choose carefully in your writing where you would want to insert your speech marks.
