Adverbs

Words that describe verbs. Identify the adverbs in the following sentences by underlining them.

  1. I always try to close the door silently when I get home.
  2. Molly jumped up and rudely pushed past her sister to get to the bathroom.
  3. After the very late show, I dragged myself wearily into bed.
  4. The price of electricity became outrageously high during winter.
  5. The firecrackers went off violently on the stairway.
  6. After the rough ride, the airplane landed softly on the tarmac.

  1. Hi Shaima. Your correctly picked out all the adverbs. Well done. This shows that you have a good idea about what adverbs are. I however, urge you to use adverbs in your writing as it makes your writing interesting.
