Recount writing

It was a gloomy Friday afternoon, when my mum decided we need to go shopping. I groaned. I didn’t want to go, it was freezing outside and it was raining. But of course I had to go, because I couldn’t stay home. I lay on my bed for a minute, before I got up and got ready.

I grumpily got into the car and waited for my mum and sister. While I waited I read my book. A couple of minutes later my mum and sister came out of the house. I put my book away as they got in. My mum started the car and we drove away. As my mum drove, she and my sister talked about what we needed to buy. Mostly it was just stuff for all my cousins, aunts and grandparents. I just stared at my window and admired the scenery.

First we needed to go to baby factory so twenty minutes later we were in front of baby factory. My mum quickly found a parking spot. Once she did I slowly opened my door, and I slowly got out. A smile creeped over my face as I smelt the fresh air. As I stepped inside the building I sighed. My mum and my sister did most of the work, while I just walked around looking at the tiny clothes. Finally after ten minutes we were done, and we walked back towards the car. Next we had to do more shopping.

“ Where are we going now ”? I asked my mum. “ Westfield ” my mum replied. “Great” I said sarcastically. Five minutes later we had arrived. I walked inside the building and smelt the the familiar smell of fries. I was starving, but I didn’t say anything. First we had to buy jewellery, so a couple of minutes later we were walking around in a jewellery store. This wasn’t as boring as baby factory, but it was still a bit boring. We walked around the store trying to find things we could buy. The pile of jewellery in my mum's arms got taller and by the time we had to pay, we had 20 pieces of jewellery.

After we paid we went into another jewellery store, to get even more jewellery for my cousins. Also my dad had told us to get extra things just in case. This time I helped them. After a while I got bored, so I left my mum and sister to explore the shop. Some of the things looked prettier than a diamond sparkling in the sun. After a while I got bored again so I slowly walked towards my mum and my sister. I was happy to find my mum and sister paying.

Next we had to get something for my aunt. So a couple of minutes later we were walking around in one of the many clothing stores. My mum said we had to get something she could wear in winter, so we walked around trying to find something my for my aunt. A couple of minutes later my sister had found the perfect item, it was a knitted sweater. As my mum payed I realised that my feet were aching. I looked looked around to find a place to sit down and I failed.

“ Can we go now” ? I asked. “ Yes” my mum replied. Finally I thought. I was exhausted and my feet were killing me. We went outside, found our car and drove away. On the way home my sister and my mum talked about what else they needed to buy. I listened for a while, but I got bored and I took out my book and started to read. My book was called fantastic beasts and where to find them. It was very interesting and before I knew it we were home.

My day had been a very long and exhausting one. I was relieved to be home. For the rest of the day I watched movies on my chromebook.

Why dogs are better pets than cats

Why dogs are a better pet than cats

I strongly believe that dogs are better pets than cats. I will provide you with adequate reasons as to why dogs are better pets than cats.

Dogs can protect you. At the moment the crime rates are very high in New Zealand. If someone tries to come into your house in the middle of the night, the dog will be alert of the intruder. The dog will probably bark, which will wake you up. A dog can also attack the intruder.  If you had a cat an intruder could easily come inside and because cats aren’t loud you won’t wake up. The intruder would be able to steal from your house and a cat probably won’t even try to attack.

Dogs can be a great companion or friend. If you're alone at home and your lonely a dog can be good company. If you're bored you can play with a dog or take it for a walk. All cats do is sleep, eat and lick theirself. A cat could never be good company because their sleeping half the time and when they're awake they're just boring. You would be bored out of your mind if you had a cat. Only a fool would think that cats are exciting and fun. Dogs on the other hand can be fun to play with, and you can do all sorts of things with them.

You can train a dog. Dogs are very intelligent and can be trained to do all sorts of tricks and commands e.g. sit, stay, roll over, fetch etc. You can barely do anything with a cat so you definitely can’t train it, unless it's highly intelligent which isn’t very likely. Imagine trying to train a cat. All a cat wants to do is sleep so trying to train it would be next to impossible. Even if you could train a cat, training a dog would a so much more fun. Especially at the end when the dog is trained.

These are all of my reasons as to why dogs are better pets than cats. I hope I have convinced you beyond doubt, and you now believe that dogs make better pets than cats.

Why we should drink water

                                                  Why we should drink water

Do you know why we should drink water? I will provide you with interesting facts as to why we should drink water.

Water helps you concentrate while you're driving or studying because water contains oxygen and hydrogen. Oxygen is a very important element of the periodic table , it’s what we need to breathe. Hydrogen is also a very important element, because it stabilises things like acids and proteins in your body.

Water helps you stay healthy. It removes toxins from your body. Water washes and cleans your body. This is very important. For example it flushes your kidney which prevents stones from forming. It also hydrates you. If you're not properly hydrated  your body can’t perform at it’s highest level. Water also helps you lose weight naturally. Too many people are obese in New Zealand. Water also moisturises your skin. Water prevents constipation. It keeps you regular. If you're not regular you  will become sick. Water replaces the lost fluids while you're exercising. It also lubricates your joints.

Water is an essential liquid in your body. Humans need water to survive. There has to be water in your body at all times. Your body uses water in all its cells, organs, and tissues. Your body loses water each time you breathe, sweat or digest. It’s very important that you rehydrate by drinking water.

It’s very important to drink water, but it’s also very important not to drink too much water. It’s dangerous to drink too much water. Drinking too much water can cause the salt or sodium level in your blood to drop too low. This condition is called hyponatremia, it's very serious and can be fatal. There’s a very rare chance that you’ll die but it can happen to anyone.

I hope you now know why we should drink water, but not too much water. I think you will drink more water now than you did before.

How a butterfly is formed

Butterflies are beautiful creatures, you will usually find them flying around flowers in a garden. Do you know how a butterfly is formed? I will provide you with interesting information about the life cycle of a butterfly.

A butterfly's life starts as a round, oval, or cylindrical egg. The shape of the egg depends on the type of butterfly. Butterflies will lay their eggs on the bottom of a leaf.

The butterfly choses the leaf to lay it’s eggs on. It choses the leaf that the caterpillar can start eating when it hatches. If it chooses a leaf that the caterpillar won’t be able to eat, the caterpillar will die.

After ten to fourteen days the caterpillar hatches from the egg. In the warmer weather the caterpillar will hatch after five to ten days. The time it takes to hatch depends on the climate. The caterpillar starts eating the leaf it was born on immediately. For around two weeks the caterpillar eats and eats and eats.

One day the caterpillar stops eating and starts to form into a pupa or a chrysalis. You may think that nothing is happening, but inside the caterpillar is going through a stage called metamorphosis. Metamorphosis is when a creature transforms from one form to another. The caterpillar will be transforming into a butterfly.

When it emerges from the chrysalis it will no longer be a caterpillar, it will be a butterfly. When the butterfly comes out it’s wings will be flat against its body, so the butterfly will have to pump blood into its wings. The blood helps the wings spread out because it has oxygen in it.  Once the butterfly has pumped blood into its wings it will start flying.

Next the butterfly will mate. After mating it will lay round, oval or cylindrical eggs and the cycle will start all over again.

why we should not wear uniforms

Why we should not wear uniforms

I strongly believe that we should not wear uniforms. I will provide you with adequate reasons as to why we should not wear uniforms.

We shouldn’t have uniforms because it will save money. Uniforms don’t grow on trees, they actually cost a lot of money. The money that families spend on uniforms, they could spend it on more important things e.g. food, shelter, water etc.

Some families can’t  afford uniforms, most people don’t realize this but uniforms can be very expensive. Just the t-shirt and skirt/shorts can cost around eighty to a hundred dollars. Most parents will probably also want a jumper to keep their child warm in winter. On top of that there are shoes, which will cost around ten to twenty dollars. Altogether that will cost around a hundred and seventy dollars. The situation will get even worse if parents have multiple children.

Your uniform can get very dirty especially if you like to play sports. Your parents probably won’t want to wash your uniform everyday. In winter your uniform won’t dry as quick as it did in the summer. Most mornings your uniform will still be wet. If your school didn’t have uniforms you wouldn’t need to worry about your clothes drying because you would wear different clothes everyday.

Some kids don’t have the proper uniform. For an example, in winter some kids don’t have school jumpers. So they have to wear non school uniform ones. Kids who do that have to take their uniforms off as soon as they get to school and that can be very hard in winter because it gets very cold. Your child would probably catch a cold by doing that. If schools didn’t have uniforms kids wouldn’t have to worry about taking off their jumper because they wouldn't’ need to.

If schools didn’t have uniforms you would easily be able to tell who’s who. Every student that goes to a school has the same uniform as everyone else in the school. It can be difficult to find someone when everyone looks the same. If school didn’t have uniforms you could easily find the person you're looking for. You wouldn't have to spend an hour just looking for one person, instead you could find the person you looking for in just a couple of minutes. By not having uniforms you could save valuable time.

Schools can still have rules about what people wear, even though there won’t be a uniform. The school can still have rules about what their students wear e.g. people can only wear covered shoes, no sleeves above your shoulders etc. That way everyone can still look  neat and tidy, and each class will look neat in their class picture.

These are all of my reasons for why we should not wear uniforms. I hope I have convinced you beyond doubt.

The Coromandel

                                                          The Coromandel

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon when my sister ran into my room and said “we're going to a beach, get dressed” she said as she stared at my pyjamas. “ Which beach”? I asked. “Don’t know but it’s a beach in the Coromandel” she replied. So I got dressed and gathered my togs, a towel and two books because my mum had sad it was going to be a long drive. My family and I got into the car and my dad drove away.

Smelling the fresh air after being stuck in the car for what felt like days felt  even though it had just been two or three hours felt amazing. We waited for my dad as he found a parking spot. After a couple of minutes my sister spotted my dad heading towards us. As we started to walk on the path towards the beach I saw people walking walking back towards  the car park area and also people heading towards the beach as well. When we started to walk up hill for a while and then down hill for a while, up hill then down hill I knew this was going to be a long walk.

As we walked down the stairs, I could barely move. That forty minute uphill and downhill walk had really gotten to me. I looked at the last two sets of stairs and sighed, but I was also relieved at the same time. I walked down the stairs barely being able to walk, I was basically walking as slow as a snail. I could not wait to feel the warm, brown, comforting sand all over my feet.

Finally! I thought as I set my foot down on the sand. All the pain I had felt when I was walking down the stairs had disappeared. I took my shoes off and dipped my feet in the warm, brown sand. Suddenly I sat down and started to play with the sand, my brother followed me. Thereafter we started to walk to the other side of the beach, we went through a big cave to get to the other side. We saw some large rocks that we could sit on and started to walk towards them.

I sat on a rock as my parents took a million pictures. When they asked me to be in a couple I slowly got up and did my best to smile. When my parents finally finished taking pictures I was brushing the sand of my feet and putting my shoes back on. At the same time I was was staring into what seemed like an endless sea and wishing I was on my comfy bed instead of this super comfortable rock. But I knew we would be in the car on our way home at least and hour or two later, because we would be at this beach for a little while longer. Then the walk back was another story.

Half an hour later my parents told us that we should head back because it was almost seven. Finally! I thought. I was so happy I could have hugged a strang. After we packed up our things we started to head back to the stairs. The stairs I thought, just thinking about it was making me tired. I couldn’t believe that just five minutes ago I could not wait to leave. Now all I wanted to do was stay on the beach forever. After two sets of my legs started to ache I didn’t know how I would survive the rest of the journey.

By the time I was one set of stairs away from the uphill, downhill problem, I could not walk. Just putting my foot up made it hurt. Slow as a slug I put my right foot up then my left, right foot, left foot. I kept on doing this until i was at the top. First we had to go up hill. “Are you kidding me”? I asked myself. I could not believe my luck.“Wow I am so so excited to be going up hill” I said sarcastically. As we walked no one talked. Not even my brother said a word until I ran ahead I ran ahead and saw we were about to go down hill. Instantly I was in a better mood. “Going downhill” I yelled. My brother cheated. I started to walk ahead of my family and it stayed like that for the rest of the way back.

“Were here” I declared as I saw the car park. I was so excited, one step closer to getting home I thought. I jogged towards our car. As I got in I saw a container with sandwiches in it. I took one and happily munched down on it. I passed one to my mum, dad, sister and brother. After a couple of minutes my dad started to drive, and as soon as he did my brother and sister fell asleep. A couple of minutes later I did as well. Even though it was very uncomfortable I couldn’t get my eyes to open up. I guess that just meant I was very, very tired.

I woke up to a loud, unusual sound of rocks. “What’s that noise?” my brother asked sleepily. “The roads full of rocks” my dad replied. “ Great, this is just great” I said sarcastically. I looked out  the window and all I saw was grass, cars, trees and more grass. My parents somehow thought it was beautiful. Suddenly I saw the most gorgeous sunset I had ever seen. It was stunning. With the ocean below it, I couldn’t find the right words to describe it. It was a mixture of four very bold shades of blue, purple, pink, and orange. I watched the colours darken and slowly fade away. As I did my eyes got tired and I slowly fell asleep.

The next time I woke up was when we had arrived home and my dad woke me up. At first I didn’t want to get up but after I heard two words I was wide awake but after I heard two words I was wide awake. Those two words were we’re home. I ran into my house, kicked off my and went into my room. Thereafter I changed into my pyjamas and got into my bed. As soon as my head hit my pillow I was fast asleep. It had been a long, exhausting, but it had also ben fun. No matter how fun my day might have been I was delighted to be home.

The painter

I  watched the man’s paintbrush dance across the canvas, as he painted the woman with fake blonde hair and cold blue eyes. The woman was as skinny as a the the painter's paintbrush. Her face looked like my little sister's doll, because of the piles and piles of makeup. The woman argued with the painter every time he showed her his work. She barked orders at him. “Make my chin more pointed, make my face thinner, make me look young”. The painter looked frustrated. I wondered if one day would have to deal with people like that.

Camp

                                                               Camp

Last year in term two most of the fours and fives went to camp. The rest of them went on day trips. I was quite nervous because it was my first time going on a camp. My brother and sister had gone on a few camps, and whenever they did I would always feel left out.

At nine o'clock we left. The teachers said it would take about an hour to get there. I was glad I had brought two books. Most of the time we sang songs and talked. Near the end a teacher fell asleep and started to snore. Everyone started to laugh, which woke up the teacher. Because I had talked so much by the time we got there I had only read one chapter.

When we got there, the teachers and parent helpers unloaded everything. By the time we all had our suitcases it was ten-thirty. The teachers told us to settle into our cabins and change out of our uniform. All of my friend and I were in cabin one. I was glad because it was the closest to the hall.

Next was lunch and then it was our first activity. My group had the nature walk. Everything was so beautiful. The teacher had cards of trees and insects and we had to try and find them. It was so much fun.

Next our group had kitchen duty. We had to peel like a hundred potatoes and make jelly. The boys only did five and then they started to moan. So the parent helper told them to make jelly instead while the girls did all the peeling. When the girls finished the boys came in and said “we make jelly” like it was really hard to make and they had done so much. When everything was done the parent helper let us make pancakes. Everyone had a turn.

For dinner there was cottage pie, mashed potatoes and vegetables. But I couldn’t eat the cottage pie so I got a sausage instead. I was really mad because I had peeled those potatoes for nothing.

After dinner we got into our pyjamas and went back to have milo. We also had to write about forty-five minutes of the day which was really hard because on activity was for an hour.

That night no one could go to sleep. We stayed up until eleven telling kind of scary stories. I couldn’t wait until tomorrow.

The water cycle

                                                             The water cycle

Image result for the water cycle

Did you know today there’s the same water as there was when the Earth was first created. Water is very important a in life of human beings, plants and animals. I will provide you with an explanation on how water is recycled.

The water cycle is also called the hydrological cycle. This cycle includes precipitation, evaporation, condensation and transpiration. Water changes from liquid to vapor and then to liquid again.

Firstly the water from lakes, rivers, streams and the sea is heated by the sun and evaporates. When it evaporates the water forms into clouds by condensation. When the clouds become heavy it falls down as rain assisted by gravity. If it falls down in solid form it is snow or sleet.

The water reaches the ground and flows across the land until it reaches rivers, lakes, streams and the sea. Some of the water also sinks into the ground.

The water cycle  begins all over again by evaporation.

Glossary

Hydrological: Hydrology is the scientific study of the movement, distribution, and quality of water on Earth and other planets.
Precipitation: Rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to or condenses on the ground.
Evaporation: Evaporation is a fundamental part of the water cycle and is constantly occurring throughout nature.
Condensation: Water which collects as droplets on a cold surface when humid air is in contact with it.
Transpiration: Transpiration is essentially evaporation of water from plant leaves.

How does food digest

                                                      How does food digest

Have you ever wondered how the food digests in your stomach? I will provide you with an explanation as to how food digests in our stomachs.

The food that you eat is masticated with your teeth and saliva.  The food is then moved to the back of your mouth and to the trapdoor or oesophagus. This is done by your tongue

The masticated food is moved into your stomach and it is broken down by digestive juices. The broken down food moves to your small intestine where the goodness is soaked in.

The balance of the food is  moved into the large intestine and has the water taken out. The goodness that is left behind and is carried through by blood to all part of your body. It is used for growth, repair and energy.

The waste food is excreted and goes out through the anus.

How do bees develop

                                                          How do bees develop

Bees are social insects. They live in organised groups called colonies. In a hive there’s one queen bee. There are drones (male bees), and the most common the worker bee.

The queen lays eggs. The eggs are held in cells in a comb in the hive. A queen bee lays 3000  eggs each day for the reast of her life. Unlike the other bees the queen never leavs the nest.

The eggs hatch four days after the egg is laid. When it hatches it called a larvae. The larvae is fed with bee bread, which is a mixture of nector and pollen.

Nine days after it has hatched the larvae is covered in wax. When the larvae is covered with wax it  doesn’t eat. It then begins to transform into a pupa.

After 21 days the pupa opens up and becomes a worker bee. It has emerged and it’s ready to collect pollen so it can make honey.

This cycle is called metamorphosis.

Why is the sea salty Shaima Yr 5

                                                          Why is the sea salty

Seventy percent of the Earth is covered with water. Which means thirty percent of the Earth is  land. Most of the water is salty. Have you ever wondered why the sea is salty?

When it rains it rains, the water flows through the soil and into the rocks. The rocks contain a chemical called salt. This is how the water becomes salty. Then the water flows into the rivers and then the sea.

On a very hot day the water evaporates. The salt doesn’t evaporate. Only the water evaporates. This is what forms clouds.

Over millions and million of years the salty water has flowed into the rivers and then the sea’s, hence the water became salty.

Why animals should not be held in captivity Shaima Year 5

Why animals should not be held in captivity

I strongly believe that animals should not be held in captivity. I will persuade you as to why animals should not be held in captivity.

God has created creatures to be free. They were meant to live in their natural habitat. Their natural habitat is suited and made for them e.g. polar bears live where there's snow and where it’s cold and a camel lives in the desert where it’s hot. Both animals would not  survive an hour in each other’s habitat. What right do people have to hold animals in zoos. Would you like to be held in a zoo? Zoos aren’t their natural habitat. Habitats are created for different animals e.g. Antarctica is created for penguins and polar bears.  In their natural habitat they’ll feel free and happy, which is healthy for them.

At the zoo's people mock and tease the animals. The animals get upset and angry. They might even attack you. Sometimes people throw rubbish or rocks at them. Would you like people to tease or throw things at you? One of the reason why they do this is because they want to see what the animals will do. The animals sometimes eat the rubbish that has been thrown and die.

Although the zoo’s feed the animals the food that they give is full of chemicals. Like a any other person it will affect the animal's health by making them sick. In their natural environment they will eat natural food. That will be beneficial for their bodies, because it will make them healthy and strong. Naturally I feel that zoos do more harm than good. The fact is that, if an animal is released after spending it’s whole life at the zoo it won’t survive in the wild. The animal won’t be able to find food and it will sustain itself . You may wonder why, and the reason to that is because in the zoos the food is always provided.

Animals don’t deserve to be held in cages. They give us food e.g. cows give us milk and chickens give us eggs. Here are two reasons why animals should not be held  in cages. Firstly people don’t care about the animals. They don’t care at all. Imagine if they were putting you in a cage. Would you like to be held in a cage? People would only care if they were putting their friends into cages. They would put an animal into a cage but they wouldn’t put a human. They shouldn't be doing these animals into cages, they are living creatures just like us. Secondly people want food. They don’t care what they're eating, they just eat it. But imagine if that was your dog or cat. Would you eat them?

Like all animals God created birds to be free. God didn’t create them to be held in captivity. God didn’t create birds to have their wings clipped, or to have their beaks taped shut. If a bird is released from captivity it won’t have wings and it won’t be able to fly. It will die from hunger because it has it’s beak taped shut. Tigers are natural predators. They hunt for their food. In the zoo’s the food is just given to them. This is how tigers lose their ability to hunt. If a tiger is released from the zoo it won’t be able to hunt and it will get eaten. Elephants are hunted for their tusks. Most of the time elephants are held in captivity for their tusks. After taking their tusks they would release them and the elephant will die.

As I have mentioned animals should not be held in captivity.I trust that I have provided you with adequate reasons as to why animals should not be held in captivity.

How animals survive in their natural habitat

How animals survive in their natural habitats

Have you ever wondered how animals survive in their natural habitat? In this explanation, I will provide reasons, as to how animals survive in their natural habitat.

Cheetahs are carnivores which means they only eat meat. The cheetah is the fastest  land animal on the planet, it has long slim legs and it is very sleek. It can cut through air which allows it run very, very fast. Can you imagine running so fast? Some of the cheetah’s competitors are lions, leopards and hyenas. Its speed enables it to compete with these other animals. Without speed it’s survival  would be threatened.

Birds can be all kinds of shapes and sizes, they are mostly small. Birds have limbs which help them fly, the limbs that help them fly are wings. Birds migrate which means flying to other parts of the world when it gets cold. If a bird does not migrate it, will die because of the cold climate. They also migrate to raise their young. Birds live and breed in most terrestrial habitats on all seven continents. Kingfisher birds have long beaks which help them catch fish. Their long beaks help their survival. Their feathers keep them them warm, if they didn’t have feathers they would be very cold and they could die.

Ants get their food in summer, because they can’t move that much in winter. Can you imagine being an ant? Ants work together to get food, because one ant can’t push a whole piece of bread. It would be like one person trying to pick up, three boxes of wood at the same time. Their head has many sensory organs help them find food. Without their sensory organs they won't be able to detect food and their survival would be threatened.

Dolphins are just like human beings even though they live in the ocean, they can’t breathe underwater either. There are many different species of dolphins e.g. bottle nose and spotted dolphins. Dolphins have two flippers, on the underside towards the head and a dorsal fin and a tail fin. Dolphins are very smart, they have a small brain at the top of their head. Dolphins are highly social animals, often living in pods of up to a dozen individuals.

These are all the reasons as to how cheetahs, birds, ants, and dolphins survive in their natural habitat. I trust that your now have an idea.

why we should not eat junk food

Why we should not eat junk food

I strongly believe that we should not eat junk food. I will provide you with adequate reasons as to why we should not be eating junk food.

Although junk food is tasty it is very high in salt and sugar. If you take in too much, sugar and you do not burn it off with exercise you could become diabetic. If you do become diabetic, you will have to have medication for the rest of your life. A sensible idea would be to not eat junk food every single day. In severe cases of diabetes gangrene sets in. This is when your body starts to rot because of of poor blood flow. Only a fool would want to have their body start to rot. That part of the body has to have an operation. The doctors amputate that part of the body. It mainly starts from the toes because it is at the bottom of your body.  Eating junk food can lead to obesity which means being very fat. Junk food has lacks of vitamins and fibra. Although you get full you get tired very quickly.

One of the reasons as to why we chose junk food over healthy food is because it saves us money. Here are two reasons why people make junk food cheap. Firstly, they put it on a low price because they want you to buy it, and because it’s high in salt and sugar you’ll really like it. And you will buy more and more and more. Has that ever happened to you? Secondly they make more money when we keep on buying unhealthy food. So sometimes they make the price even lower. So we’ll buy that instead of buying what’s good and healthy for us

Junk food that contains meat has chemicals e.g. chicken nuggets have chemicals and you could  get sick. If you continue to eat you will get cancer and that can sometimes lead to death. Imagine dying just because you ate chicken nuggets. Would you like to die just because you ate chicken nuggets? Junk food might taste good but the ingredients have poor quality. Hamburgers have poor quality of meat used. You don’t know what could be inside it, and you don’t know which part of the cow used. People spend a lot of money buying hamburgers, and all kinds of things like that when they could make it at home. If you make it yourself you know what's in it and you get full quickly. Some fast food outlets have poor hygiene. They have food poisoning which makes you very, very sick.

The first point of entry is your mouth. Junk food comes in contact with your teeth too. High salt and sugar affects your teeth too. Your teeth start to rot. Problems get worse when you do not brush your teeth regularly. You should be brushing your teeth twice a day or after every meal.  When you have problems with your teeth you have to go to the dentist. You may not realise it but going to the dentist can cost quite a lot of money. That money that you use could have a better use like buying healthy food or paying bills.

These are all my reasons as to  why we should not eat junk. I hope you remember what junk food can do next time when you eat something unhealthy.

It was 8:25 am on an amazing winter Monday in New York. Surprisingly the sun was shining brightly like it was summer and their wasn’t a cloud in sight. It felt like it was a warm spring afternoon instead of a winter morning.

Emma, Emily and Ellie are identical triplets. But everyone at school calls them the three E’s because all of their names start with the letter E. Emma is the rebel, she is fearless, but she also has a big heart. Emily is the shy triplet, she is shy and sweet. Ellie is the loud triplet, she is cheerful and loves to help others. The only things Emma, Emily and Ellie have in common are that they look the same, they would do anything for their friend and they all have a big heart.

Everyone at school seemed to be having an amazing day, they were all talking about how great the weather was, how great their day had been and how nice their teachers had been to them. Everyone except for the Taylor triplets. Emma, Emily and Ellie were having the worst day ever. They all slept in and they had been late for school. Emma got detention for not completing her homework. Emily got detention for not bringing her homework in. Ellie got detention for talking during class. It was even worse because everyone was talking about how great the day was and that made them get even madder.

As they walked into detention,  they scowled and growled. Even cheerful Ellie was in a bad mood.  Mrs S, the teacher who was was doing detention that day was happily reading a book called “Tips on organising your bookshelf to look exactly like people 101,” That made the triplets even more annoyed and mad because everyone seemed to be having an amazing day except for them. They walked over to the desks and waited for the Mrs S to look up from her book and notice them. After a four minutes,  the triplets just got tired of waiting for Mrs S. Emma yelled “hello Mrs S we are here for our detention!” “Shush” Emily whispered “I don’t want a week of detention I already ruined my reputation” “Whatever” Emma said. “ What are your guys talking about?” Ellie asked. “Shush Ellie” Emma and Emily said at the same time. Surprisingly Mrs S didn’t look up she just kept reading her book.

By the time the time Mrs S finally looked up from her book, the triplets had changed the time on the clock, crossed out their names on the detention sheet and were just about to leave. “What  are you three E’s doing in detention?” Mrs S asked. “Um Miss R asked if Emily could get some very important papers from your desk, and Ellie and I decided we should come with Emily” Emma said. “Okay” Mrs S replied. “Hey girls do you know who’s got detention today?” “I don’t think anybody's got detention today” Ellie said. Wow! Mrs S exclaimed I think that's the first time for a long time that no one has got detention. “Well we don’t want to bother you since you really seem to like your book” Ellie said. “Bye” Emma said. They ran out of the classroom and out of the school.

“Phew” Emily said. “Yeah I was worried that the teacher would catch us and we would have detention for the rest of our lives in high school and this is only our second year” Ellie said. “I think we should probably get out of here before Mrs S checks the security camera” Emma said. “There was a security camera in there” Emily whispered, she started to look pale. “Yeah duh, didn’t you know” Emma said. “Um” I don’t think she knew that” Ellie said guiltily.

As they walk home Emma noticed a new statue blocking the path way. “Hey why is there a statue over there and why does it look like an imaginary land filled with unicorns, rainbows and fairies?” Ellie asked. They waited for Emily to talk about it but she didn’t it seemed like she was even there. “Where's Emily?” Emma asked. “Umm Emma look over there” Ellie told her. Emma looked at where her sister was pointing. “Hey there Emily” Emma said. “Emily” Emma called out. But her sister just kept walking it seemed like she couldn’t hear them but she was just a few feet away. Emily ran into one of the mirrors. Emma and Ellie expected her to crash and get hurt but she somehow went through the mirror.

“Umm where did Emily go” Ellie asked. “I think it’s a portal” Emma said. “To where” Ellie said worriedly, “I don’t know but we have to follow” Emma said. “How do we get back?” “What if we never get back Ellie began with her questions. “I don’t know, but all I know right now is that we have to get Emily back Emma said determinedly. She took a deep breath and calmly walked through the portal. Ellie sighed and followed Emma since really she had no choice. Ellie closed her eyes and ran into the portal.

When Ellie opened her eyes she was in a completely different world. There were these computer chips all over something that was supposed to look grass instead of the beautiful flowers and trees. Instead of the white apartments, that used to be on the streets there were huge mansions that were the size of a castle. The only thought that came into her mind was that she would have loved to live in one of those mansions. “This is no time for daydreams Ellie I have to find Emma and Emily” Ellie told herself. Just then she spotted Emma and Emily. She ran up to them. “Has Emily turned back to normal?” Ellie asked. Emma nodded. She went back to normal as soon as she entered the portal.

“Do you know how to get back?” Ellie asked. “No when I looked back I saw nothing” Emma replied. “Great we're stuck in the future” Emma said sarcastically. “I’m pretty sure that this is another planet” Ellie said. “Umm I agree with Emma” Emily said. “Give me one good reason why you think that this is the future” Ellie said a bit angrily since Emily always agreed with her. Emma rolled her eyes. “Maybe it’s because it says 2025 in huge letters on that building” she said. Ellie rolled her eyes.

“What happened to the sweet Ellie, that never used to roll her eyes Emily whispered in Emma’s ear. “I have no idea” Emma whispered back. “Aren’t you going to help me find a way to get home” Ellie said. “Ellie snapped out of it” Emma said. “No I won’t” she replied. “Well why not” Emily said. “Because I have huge plans Ellie said. “Great Ellie’s acting like a diva Emily said. I've got this Emma said. Then she clapped three times. Ellie went to sleep. Emma clapped again and Ellie woke up. “Where were you guys, I have tons to tell you. “And the old Ellie is back” Emily cried. “Wait a second how did you do that” Emily said. “My friend taught me, it can be very handy”. “Okay now we have to find a way to get home”.

A few hours later,  the triplets came across a building that read do you have a problem? “Maybe if we could find someone to help us in here” Emily said. “What are we going to say we walked into a portal and somehow we got here” Emma said. “I agree with Emily, it’s better to find someone that knows about this than walking around hoping for a miracle” Ellie said. “Fine” Emma said stubbornly. As they walked down the endless hallway they saw tons of pictures of flowers and animals.

“Why do they have pictures of animals and flowers?” Emma asked. “Probably to make people feel welcome” Emily replied. When the hallway finally ended the girls felt super tired. “Come on we have to find someone Emily said. After ten minutes of walking around they saw someone or three people. The triplets couldn’t see there faces but they looked very familiar. “Do you know who that is?” Emma asked. “No but she looks super familiar” Emily said. “Wait anything we do in the past affects the future right” Emily said. Ellie and Emma nodded. “So maybe there one of our friends, and I think we told them in the future what happened when we got stuck in the future” Emily said. “So?” Ellie said. “So maybe they know how to get back” Emily cried. Come on let's follow them.

After going through dozens of rooms they entered a tunnel. “How do people even get through these tunnels?” Ellie asked. “More importantly why would someone make tunnels here” Emma asked. “Shhh, do you want them to hear us?” Emily asked. A few minutes later they were at a dead end, but instead of turning around,  the three girls that they were following just waited. After a few seconds later the scanner scanned the three girls and the wall opened. “What are we going to do now?” Ellie said. “I have no idea” Emma replied. “Wait a second we think those girls are our friends in the future right?” Emily asked. Emma and Ellie nodded. “So maybe they have us on the scanner” Emily said. “Good idea, let's see what happens” Emma said. The girls stood where the girls had stood and waited for the scanner. When the scanner came it’s green light shone and the wall opened. As soon as they saw who was inside their jaws dropped.

It was Ellie, Emily and Emma in the future. Ellie squealed “OMG look three little versions of us” Ellie said. “Ellie look over there and see who else is in the room. “Who are you?” the future version of Emily asked. “Well I’m Emma Taylor, this is Ellie Taylor and this is Emily Taylor” Emily said. But that's us” the future version of Emma said. “We know, we went through this portal which brought us here and we're trying to find a way back” Emma said. “We thought you were one of our friends in the future and we thought that you could help us find a way back” Emily said. The other versions of them were quiet. “Do you know a way to get back?” Ellie asked.“Well we do have something that could help you” Emily number two. “A portal that helped us get back when we got stuck in the future too” Emma number two added.

“Where is it?” the normal Emma asked. “It’s over here” Ellie number two said and took out a huge boring, plain mirror with a black border. “All you need to do is walk through it and you’ll be home” Emily number two said. “Thanks for helping us” Emily said. “Why wouldn’t we help ourselves” Ellie said. Everyone giggled.”All you need to do, is walk through the mirror and say I want to go home” Emma number 2 said. “You also need to close your eyes” Ellie said. “When you open your eyes you’ll be outside that statue” Emily number two said. “How did you know that?” Ellie asked. “We’re the future version of you remember” Ellie number two said. “Come back soon” the future versions of them said. “We will” the normal versions of them said and with a flash they were gone.

“Ow couldn’t that have been a bit more comfortable” Emma said. “You should be glad we're home” Emily said. “I know but couldn’t that have a bit more comfortable” Emma said. “Yeah I agree with Emma that was very uncomfortable Ellie said. “I feel like I’m forgetting something” Emma said. “The security camera” Emily cried “we have to delete the footage before someone see’s it Emma said. “Actually it doesn’t really matter anymore” Emily said. “Are you sure?” Ellie asked. “Yeah I’m sure” Emily replied.

It was late at night when Emily and Ellie came into Emma’s room. After their long day they had wanted to talk about what had happened. “I can't believe we got stuck in the future” Emily cried. “I can” Ellie said. “Hey I know we don’t get along much but I just wanted to let you know that I’m glad we're triplets” Emma said. “Me too” Emily and Ellie said. They had a group hug and went back to their rooms, knowing that they would always need each other.
