Ratios
Gavin has 50c coins, 20c coins and 10c coins in the ratio of 8:1:2. If 30 of Gavin’s coins are 10c coins, how many 50c and 20c coins does Gavin have? Gavin has 120 50c coins and 15 20c coins.
My strategy:
If 2 will be 30 then 4 will be 60. Then 6 will be 90 and 8 will be 120.
If 2 is 30 then 1 will be 15.
Therefore Gavin has 120 50c coins and 15 20c coins.
I like your reasoning Shaima. It makes sense. You used the known to work out the unknown.
